OXFORD HILLS CHAPTER NAMED MAINE SCORE DISTRICT CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
Oxford Hills SCORE Chapter 479 has been recognized as Maine SCORE Chapter of the Year. The presentation took place at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in Augusta at a quarterly meeting of the Maine SCORE Chapter Chairs.
Charles Summers, New England Regional Administrator of the SBA presented the award. “I want to congratulate the Oxford Hills Chapter for a job well done, and I also commend all Maine SCORE volunteers for their commitment to small business. I echo the sentiments of Senator Snowe, who said ‘SCORE is the most effective use of government funding and is valuable asset to small business owners nationwide.’ “
SCORE is a volunteer organization of working and retired business owners, executives and corporate leaders who want to share their knowledge with Maine ’s self employed. Maine District SCORE consists of seven chapters with 140 volunteers providing counseling and workshop assistance to individuals interested in starting a small business or who are seeking assistance with the operation of an existing small business.
Nominated by Charles Orem, District Director of Maine SCORE, the chapter led the District in improvement in follow-on counseling, total sessions per member, counseling hours, other volunteer hours and total hours.
The chapter has an active program for training and mentoring new members, maintains a training program for keeping member skills up-to-date and assiduously tracks and carefully analyses every counseling case.
Their counseling area includes Northern Cumberland and Southern Oxford counties. |
